Benson council sets preliminary levy at 6.5%

Benson’s City Council set the preliminary levy increase for 2027 at 6.5% at its meeting Sept. 28. 
Minnesota local governments must adopt their preliminary levies by the end of September, though they will work on refining their budgets over the next three months.
While the preliminary levy amount can be reduced in the coming months before the final budgets are adopted, the levy cannot be raised.
