Swift County’s Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the sale of K-9 German shepherd Red to former county Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Henriksen at its June 2 meeting. The sale price was $5,000.
The offer to sell Red to Henriksen, who has been his handler for more than four years and who has boarded the dog at his home where it became part of his family, was unanimous.
Henriksen had notified Holtz by the June 1 deadline that he intended to buy Red. Henriksen has taken a job with the Stevens County Sheriff's Office.
