A celebration of life for Rhoda Holzheimer, 100, of Morris, formerly of Holloway, was held Friday, December 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church Fairfield in Holloway, Minnesota. Rev. Donald Klatt officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to services at the church  Friday. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Rhoda Roseline Hawkins was born to Philip and Lillian (Miller) Hawkins  December 30, 1912 in Lee Township near Grygla, Minnesota. After her father passed away at a young age, the family moved to Minneapolis where she attended school and later beauty school. She worked as a beautician in Minneapolis for several years before marrying LeRoy Holzheimer  March 27, 1949.  They made their home in rural Holloway and farmed.  Country living suited her well while maintaining her beauty shop “The Farm Curl” within their home. She loved every aspect of farming including tractor driving, gardening, raising poultry and livestock. She was a devoted wife, loving mother to Warren and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother.
Rhoda had a passion for cooking that she shared with her family. Her recipes for wheat bread, chocolate cake with mile high fluffy frosting, cookies, pancakes, sausage, hotdishes and more were “out of this world” and will be forever cherished, but hard to duplicate. One of Rhoda’s favorite pastimes was playing musical instruments. She encouraged her grandchildren to take musical lessons and always enjoyed listening to them perform. She also had a fondness of quilting and over the years she completed numerous quilts for her family and the church. Her love for her family was unmeasurable and you never came or left without getting a great big hug and a thank you for coming.
Rhoda passed away  December 15, 2013 at West Wind Village in Morris. She lived to reach the age of 100 years, 11 months, 15 days.
She is survived by her son, Warren (Marsha) Holzheimer; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Stacy (Steve) Link, Grady, Keaton and Colby of Casselton, ND, Michele (Dustin) Hillman and Elizabeth of Kindred, ND, Daniel (Staci) Holzheimer and Savannah of Bismarck, ND and Katie Holzheimer of Moorhead; nieces: Terigan Benecia Caley of Minneapolis and Cindy Mertens (Ken Kapsner) of Minneapolis;   nephews: Jones (Julie) Adkins of St. Paul and William (Lonnie) Larson of Edina.
