Ron Kent, 74, passed away August 1, 2023, at the St. Cloud Hospital after a battle with heart and kidney failure.

A Celebration of his life is tentatively scheduled for September 30 at the Clontarf Hall.

He was born December 5, 1948, to David and Cecelia  Kent in Benson, Minnesota. He graduated from Benson High School with the class of 1966. He served our country in the United States Army for 18 months in 1974 and 1975.

Ron married Laurie Moen, March 22, 1980, at the East Zion Lutheran Church. They resided in Clontarf, Minnesota.

His favorite place to be was in the garden which was his pride and joy. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, sharing recipes, and hosting parties. He would spend hours visiting with friends and relatives in person and especially on the phone updating them on all the news in the area. He spent many hours creating a Christmas village that included model trains, shops, and ice-skating rinks. That village grew in size every year and he liked to have people come to the house to see it. He loved his hunting dogs and lately, his cat. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephew and giving them "whisker rubs" and rides on the golf cart.  He knew all the wild asparagus patches in Swift County and all the best fishing places.

He was employed at Zosel’s Hardware Store in his younger years and then Chuck’s Home Improvements doing carpentry for many years. Steel  siding was their specialty.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie;  his sister, Marie Hagerty, her husband Pat, their daughter, Kate Laufenberg, Bryan and great niece, Natalie, their son, Connor and his friend Courtney; his sister-in-law, Jodie Heuring, Greg, and daughters, Alyssa Kent and Kristina Kent; his brother-in-law, Bruce Moen, his wife, LuAnn, their daughters, Natasha Dosen and Tony and Kristin Johnson and Tony; and great niece, Jada, and great nephew, Cam.

He is preceded in death by his father Dave, mother Cecelia, his brother Arnie and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
