Swift County is accepting bids for a three-year lease on 78.6 acres of county owned agricultural land starting in the Spring of 2021 and terminating in early 2024 prior to the 2024 growing season. The property is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of State Highway 9 and County Road 29, and is legally described as the:
East Half of the Southeast Quarter (E1/2 - SE1/4) of Section Thirty-six (36), Township One Hundred Twenty-Two (122), Range Thirty-nine (39).
The property consists of 78.6 acres with approximately 56 acres of tillable land.
Bids must be placed in a sealed envelope labeled “Agricultural Lease Agreement” and received by the Swift County Administrator by the deadline. Sealed bids will be accepted until 4:00 P.M. on January 18, 2021, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud. All received bids will then be reviewed by the Swift County Board of Commissioners at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
Swift County is seeking bids for the above-described property wherein Swift County shall let to the highest bidder the above-described land for purposes of farming. The term shall commence on May 1, 2021 and continue until March 31, 2024. The amount of lease payments shall be determined pursuant to the bid and paid annually as set forth in the request for bid below. Lease payments shall be paid no later than April 30th of each year or the agreement shall automatically terminate.
The bidder shall be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the land, including any and all ditches and drainage systems. Bidder shall also be responsible for operating their farming operation in such a way to ensure crop growth in subsequent years. Other standard lease terms shall apply. A copy of the full lease agreement can be provided upon request to Kelsey Baker, Swift County Administrator.
Swift County asks that all bids submitted in accordance with this request be in the following format:
I, _______________________, offer to pay Swift County the total sum of $_____ per year, which is calculated at $____ per acre multiplied by 56 tillable acres.
Swift County reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids, to waive irregularities and informalities therein, and to award the lease in the best interests of Swift County.
