MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 777, Benson, Minnesota Monday, October 12, 2020 - 5:30 p.m. – Northside Elementary School Cafeteria & Virtual Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 5:37 p.m. by Chair Brian Samuelson.  Members present:  Paul Carruth, Mary KW Langan, Eric Peterson, Brian Samuelson, Gary Williams. James Berens joined the meeting via zoom.  Members absent:  Bill McGeary.  Also present: Dennis Laumeyer, Mike Knutson, Garrett Schmidt, Katie Foley, Lori Eix, Ryan Breitbach, Anne Duncan, Reed Anfinson, Brennan Kent, Shelly Mikkelson, Jason Strand.
No Additions to the Agenda.
Agenda approved with a change of moving 6.4.1. Appointments of Fall Coaches to 9.2.1.
No Citizens Comments.
Consent Agenda approved.
Progress Reports presented by the administrators.
Construction Manager Ryan Breitbach provided a construction and budget update.
MSHSL Membership Fee:  Benson Public Schools will remain a member of the MSHSL and pay the additional fees.
B-KMS Cooperative Activities:  The board will hold a special meeting on November 2nd to take action on the cooperative agreements.  The board approved the Benson Activities Committee to meet with the KMS Activities Committee before the November 2nd Special School Board meeting.
Levy Information:  Director of Finance Katie Foley presented the preliminary 2021 Levy information.  The final levy will be approved in December.
500 Policy Series:  This is the first reading on Policies 501, 502, 503, 504, 505, 506, 506 Form, 507, 508, 509 based on changes recommended by MSBA to meet law.
Annual Approval of Coaches/Advisors Procedure:  The board directed the Activities Committee to meet with Activities Director Garrett Schmidt to bring a recommendation for timeline to bring coach and advisor hires to the board for approval.

2020-2021 School Calendar:  Approved the revised 2020-2021 School Calendar as presented.
Federal Fiscal Compliance:  Approved the Federal Compliance and Procedure Manual as presented.
