Larry Lindquist, 84, of Kerkhoven, Minnesota died Saturday, August 27, 2022, at his home.
His funeral service was 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, at the Kerkhoven Lutheran Church. Interment with military honors was at Hillcrest/West Lake Covenant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials were preferred.
Larry Dean Lindquist was born August 2, 1938, to Axel Lawrence and Lenora Olivia (Nybakke) Lindquist at the Swift County Hospital in Benson. He was baptized as an infant and was confirmed October 14, 1951, at Monson Lake Lutheran Church. Larry attended elementary school at District 29 and graduated from Kerkhoven High School in 1956. He participated in 4-H, industrial arts, photo club, and Luther League.
Larry served in the United States Army from October 1959 to February 1962. He received basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas, and was trained for Military Police at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Following his training, he was stationed at a Nike missile base near San Rafael, California. While serving, he achieved the rank of PFC.
During this time, he was united in marriage to Constance Ann Carlson, November 5, 1960, at Frank Lake Covenant Church. The two spent the first 15 months of their marriage at Corte Madera, California. Following his discharge, the two moved to the farm west of Kerkhoven, where they lived and farmed for the next 60+ years. Larry milked cows for over 30 years while raising crops and other livestock. He continued to farm until his death. Most important to Larry and Connie was raising and working together on the farm with their five kids: Jeffery, Brenda, Michael, Rodney, and Carmen.
Larry loved all children and was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He also loved all their friends that tagged along. He farmed all of his life and passed the love of farming onto his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed serving Kerkhoven Lutheran Church as president and trustee, the community as a board member of Pillsbury Township, and the service as a Legion member. Larry and Connie enjoyed traveling. Most of the trips included attending the Mardi Gras celebration, where they could see friends and dance.
Larry is survived by his wife: Connie; his children: Jeff Lindquist of Murdock, Brenda (John) Muller of Raymond, Mike (Karen) Lindquist of Murdock, Rod (Naomi) Lindquist of Kerkhoven, and Carmen (Ryan) Maus of Murdock; 12 grandchildren: Maile (John) Boeder, Benjamin (Christina) Ilac, Jed (Nicole) Muller, Justin (Haley) Muller, Mackenzie (Adam) Doraska, Thomas Lovecraft, Brody (Amanda) Lindquist, Jacob Lindquist (Reno), Korissa (Ty) Klein, Kolby Lindquist (Madeline), Faith Barrett (Maral), and Dylan Maus; 15 great-grandchildren: Alanah, Elizabeth, Mackenzie, Sophia, Michael, Chaz, Garrett, Ava, Chloe, Cecilia, Olivia, Abel, Amethyst, Alya, and Gracie; and siblings: Lorna Carlson, and LeAnn Dean.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; one grandchild: Colton Wayne Burns; and a brother-in-law: Richard Carlson, along with aunts, uncles, cousins, and several classmates.
