Harry Chancy Janssen, 80, of Benson, died Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Scandi Haven Village in Benson, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Interment will be at Benson City Cemetery.

Harry Chancy Janssen was born August 29, 1943, the son of Henry and Marie Janssen in Willmar. He grew up in Kerkhoven, and attended Kerkhoven High School, graduating in 1961. Harry was united in marriage to Patricia “Pat” Nelson,  May 20, 1967. Together they had two daughters Karla and Kris.

Harry enlisted in the U. S. Army March 12, 1964, and served until March 11, 1966. He was then transferred to the U. S. Army Reserve and served until March 11, 1970. Harry worked at Fingerhut in Benson for 13 years from 1966 to 1979. He then worked for Agralite as a warehouse manager for 27 years from April 25, 1981 until his retirement  September 15, 2008. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, mowing lawn, feeding birds, and washing and waxing his truck and boat. Dad’s eyes always lit up when his grandkids were around.

Harry passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Scandi Haven Village in Benson. He was 80 years old.

Harry is survived by his wife Pat of Benson; daughters: Karla (George) Kurkosky of Benson and Kris Janssen of Willmar; grandchildren: Brittney (Jake) Schwendemann of Benson, Mikayla (fiancé Jacob Wente) Kurkosky of Benson, Alyssa (special friend Jacob Connelly) Kurkosky of Benson, and Brayden Sime of Willmar; great-grandchildren: Jaxon Schwendemann and Brynlee Schwendemann; and half-brother Kenneth (Karen) Janssen of Kerkhoven.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents: Henry Janssen, Clara Janssen and Marie Sordahl Bock along with his brother Herman Janssen.
