Dorothy M. Schloendorf, July 23, 1925 • June 5, 2023

Dorothy Meta Schloendorf, 97, of Benson, Minnesota died Monday, June 5, 2023, at Scandi Haven Village in Benson. Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson, and continued from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson, followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. The burial was in the Benson City Cemetery.

Dorothy Meta Schloendorf was born July 23, 1925, in Green Isle Township, Minnesota, the daughter of Frederick Paul and Selma Caroline Maria (Otto) Schauer. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Karl Reuter at Zion Lutheran Church, Green Isle Township, Minnesota. She grew up in Green Isle Township where she attended school through the 8th grade.

August 18, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage to Herbert H. F. Schloendorf at Zion Lutheran Church in Green Isle, and they resided on a farm in Green Isle Township, Sibley County. In 1950, they moved to a farm near Stewart, Minnesota in McCleod County. In 1960, they moved to a farm near Benson. Dorothy worked side by side with her husband farming for many years. She was often seen driving their Steiger tractor on the Benson farm.

Dorothy belonged to Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church and was an avid member in church and the quilting groups. She served on the Church Council, was a Sunday School Teacher and active in ORW. Her hobbies and interests included flower and vegetable gardening, embroidery, playing cards, quilting, reading and puzzles.

She is survived by her children; Mary Eberley of Elk River, Minnesota, Doris (Gary) Loen of Glenwood, Minnesota, James (Pam) Schloendorf of Pipestone, Minnesota and Jane (Keith) Clemons of Colorado Springs, CO; eight grandchildren: Mark (Katie) Eberley, Caroline (JJ) Johnson, Elizabeth (Steve) Zemlicka, Eric (Laura) Loen, Jennifer (Brandon) Prouty, Nathan Schloendorf, Robert Schloendorf and Mikaela (Keegan) Sullinger; 11 great-grandchildren, Kurt Zemlicka, Holden Zemlicka, Caeden Zemlicka, Griffin Eberley, Seriana Eberley, Linden Eberley, Vanessa Johnson, Amelia Johnson, Crosby Johnson, Jolie Prouty and Waylon Prouty. Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband Herbert Schloendorf in May of 2012; son-in-law Lee Eberley; three brothers and their spouses and two sisters-in-law and their spouses.
