Benson/KMS earns Prairie Conference Tournament crown
The B/KMS girls tennis team won the Prairie Conference Tournament in Osakis Sept. 17. The team included: from left, manager Taylor McGee, Emily McGinty, Kinsley Trump, Ella Lysen, Tara Beyer, Lyla Oakes, Elizabeth Jopp, Hazel Habben, Paulina Velazques, Emmie Grussing and Ava Oakes.
Benson/KMS wrapped up their conference season at the Prairie Conference Tournament in Osakis where the team finished in first or second in all seven tournaments to win the tournament as a team.
Benson/KMS earned first place in two of the three singles matches. Beyer won the two singles tournament with two straight set wins. Kinsley Trump also finished first at 4 singles, going 3-0 with three straight set wins. Ava Oakes was 1-1 to finish second at one singles and Emily McGinty was 1-1 at three singles to finish in second place.
Benson/KMS was also strong in doubles competition, winning one and finishing second in the other two. At one doubles, Lysen and Habben won both matches, one in straight sets and one in three, to finish in first place. Elizabeth Jopp and Lyla Oakes were second at two doubles, finishing 1-1 and Emmie Grussing and Paulina Velazquez were second with a 1-1 record at three doubles.
Benson/KMS will be back in action Thursday, Sept. 24 when they play host to 10th ranked Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta/West Central Area in Benson.
