Beatrice Simonson
Beatrice Simonson, 82, of Buffalo, Minnesota (formerly of Benson) died Saturday, August 28, 2021, in Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo.
Visitation was held 1:00-2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 3, 2021, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Pastor Zane Anderson officiated. Burial was in Lake Hazel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Benson.
Beatrice June Simonson was born July 11, 1939, in Starbuck, Minnesota to Oliver and Jennie (Hulberg) Pederson. She was baptized and confirmed at East Zion Lutheran Church. She attended first grade at country school, second through 10th grades in Starbuck Public Schools. Her family moved to Benson, where Beatrice graduated from Benson High School in 1957.
February 8, 1958, Beatrice was united in marriage to LuVerne S. Simonson at East Zion Lutheran Church by Pastor L.C. Anderson. They shared over 58 years of marriage. Beatrice worked at Swift County Bank following graduation and Northwestern Bank in Minneapolis while living in Crystal. They returned to Benson in 1967 and farmed in Camp Lake Township. Beatrice moved to Scandi Haven Village July 2018, then Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo, Oct. 2020.
Beatrice had the gift of hospitality offering anyone a hot cup of coffee and delicious, fresh baked goodies. She was talented at most crafts, crocheting, knitting, sewing, painting, drawing, cake decorating. She loved baking Norwegian foods.
Beatrice was involved in Homemakers, 4-H for many years, Smorgasbord and Ladies Aide at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church, and coffee parties. She spent hours making special memories with her grandchildren, teaching them knitting, crafts, baking, reading, playing games, and finding Ole & Lena jokes for them.
Beatrice is survived by her children: Randal (Paula) Simonson, Catlin, IL, Julie (Kevin) Rysdahl, St. Michael, MN, Richard Simonson, Kearney, NE; grandchildren: Samuel Simonson, Luke Rysdahl, Nathan Simonson, Grace Rysdahl, and Ryan Rysdahl; siblings: Wanda Warnke, Crystal, MN and John (Arlene) Pederson, Chippewa Falls, WI; sister-in-law, LaVonne Nesheim, Benson; brother-in-law, Ronald Simonson, Benson; nieces and nephews: Renee (Robert) Erko, David (Pam) Warnke, Pamela Wilson, Penny (Scott) Thalacker, Linda Pederson, and Oliver (Kassi) Pederson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LuVerne Simonson; parents, Oliver and Jennie Pederson; parents-in-law, Karney and Inez Simonson; brothers-in-law: Milo Warnke and James Nesheim.
