New mileage numbers fuel county budget issue

Late in December each year, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announces the mileage reimbursement rate for governmental entities. Federal, state and local governments use it to set their rates and set the budgets.
So, when the IRS decides to raise rates half-way through the fiscal year, it messes with those budgets.
