Lavon Francis Lund passed away peacefully at his home February 18, 2026, He was 93 years old. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Benson City Cemetery. 

Lavon was born October 18, 1932, at the home farm in Langhei Township, Pope County, Minnesota, the son of Lee and Christina (Nash) Lund. He was baptized and confirmed at East Zion Lutheran Church of rural Starbuck. He attended school through the eighth grade.

February 15, 1953, Lavon met Vera Brandt of Danvers. They were united in marriage October 24, 1953, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Holloway. They lived at Lavon’s home until the fall of 1954 when they moved to Vera’s home farm by Danvers and built a house. Vera passed away February 13, 2023. Lavon lived there for the rest of his years. Lavon passed away peacefully at his home February 18, 2026. This union was blessed with three children: two daughters Sheila and Connie, and one son David. Lavon and Vera worked together on the farm. Lavon was a kind and generous man and well-respected farmer. He also worked at Lorenz Manufacturing many winters and at Ron Ascheman’s snowmobile shop. Lavon served on multiple church boards. Lavon and Vera were instrumental in many church improvements and had a faith as deep as their love for each other and their passion for the church. They passed this faith on to their children, grandchildren, and all they loved and interacted with. Lavon always enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a passion for restoring old cars and tractors. He especially enjoyed passing his knowledge on to the next generations. He was a member of Putts-n-Purrs Tractor Club. Lavon enjoyed playing button accordion and guitar with the Lund family. He and his niece Becky spent many hours entertaining people at nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and senior meal sites. Lavon enjoyed traveling to Oregon and Texas to visit relatives and taking various bus trips with friends.

Lavon is survived by his daughter Sheila (LeRoy) Fahje of Alberta, son David (Deb) Lund of Danvers, and son-in-law Ronnie Bjork of Pennock; grandchildren: Sarah Schmall and three great-grandchildren of Elbow Lake, Adam (Heather) Fahje and four great-grandchildren of Danvers, Jason (Abbey) Ebner and three great-grandchildren of Otsego, and Ann Stewart and five great-grandchildren of Benson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Vera Lund, his parents, four brothers, two sisters, and daughter Connie.
