Maurer ties for fourth at state golf
Alissa Maurer closed out her high school golf career by placing fourth at the State Class A Girls Golf Tournament last Tuesday and Wednesday at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker.
Maurer had two rounds of 87 for a 174 total to tie with three other golfers for fourth place.
Emily Brandt, of Legacy Christian Academy, won the Class A girls title with a 165 total on rounds of 81 and 84, while Kianna Johnson, of Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, was second with a 166 score (85-81), and Fillmore Central’s Courtney Hershberger was third with a 173 total, which included a 91 on the first day and an 82 the second, which was the second-best score of the second day.
Maurer tied with LQP’s Sarah Halvorson, who also had two rounds of 87, while Molly Halvorson of LQP was eighth (86-89--175), LQP’s Isabella Jacobs was 10th (84-93--177), BOLD’s Leslie Snow was 11th (93-85--178), and Dawson-Boyd Alyssa Swedzinski (94-89--183) and Lindsey Lund (94-90--184) were 15th and 17th, respectively.
