Gjerde and Krieger are co-MVP’s for KMS softball

The KMS softball team had its 26th-straight winning season this year, finishing the 2021 season with an overall record of 20-6, including a 15-3 mark in the Camden Conference to place second by one game to Lac qui Parle (16-2).  KMS also finished second in the Section 3A Softball Tournament after losing to Edgerton in the upper-bracket finals (14-1) and then again in the championship game (11-4).   The Saints also beat RCW (16-1), Lakeview (10-0), LQP (8-2), and Wabasso (10-7) during the tourney).

Edgerton-SWC, which has won the last seven-straight Section 3A titles, went on to place third at state, losing to Randolph (5-0) in the state semifinals but beating Badger-Greenbush-Middle River in the third-place game (4-2).

LQP and KMS split their Camden Conference games to open up this year with KMS winning the first game, 8-7, but losing the second, 15-13.  That was just enough for the Eagles to edge the Saints for the Camden Conference title.  LQP had a 16-2 league mark followed by KMS (15-3), Tracy Area (14-4), RTR and Canby-Minneota (both 12-6), YME (8-10), Lakeview (6-12), MACCRAY (5-13), RCW (1-16), and Dawson-Boyd (0-17)...
