Fall sports practices get started Aug. 12

With less than a month to the start of school, the high school fall sports teams are gearing up for the start of their regular season. The fall sports for Benson and Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg have started their official team practices this week and the athletes are busy shaking the cobwebs off to be ready for their first competition.
Cross country, football, girls tennis and volleyball all started practice this week on Aug. 12.
For volleyball, the Saints will practice for four days before they have a scrimmages against Montevideo in Kerkhoven on Friday, Aug. 16 and on the road against Willmar on Monday, Aug. 19. The first official match of the season for KMS will be the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted tournament on Friday, Aug. 23.
The Benson volleyball team will have more than two weeks of practice before their first game. They will open up at home against Montevideo on Tuesday, Aug. 27.
The Benson/KMS cross country team will practice for two weeks before their first competition at Pomme De Terre Golf Club in Morris on Monday, Aug. 26.
The Saints football team nearly has a month of practice before they officially kick their season off with a road game in Wadena against Wadena-Deer Creek on Friday, Aug. 30.
Benson football will get started on the road in Mahnomen against Mahnomen-Waubun on Thursday, Aug. 29.
For tennis, the Benson/KMS team will have a full week of practice before they start their season on the road in Luverne where they will play Luverne and Pipestone on Saturday, Aug. 17.
