George was born August 20, 1940, in Langhei Township to Herman and Hazel Schluter. He spent the first 24 years of his life on the family farm, where he developed a deep appreciation for the land that would remain with him throughout his life.

June 27, 1964, George was united in marriage to the love of his life, Susan Cramlet at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, Minnesota. Together they began their life in the Twin Cities, where George worked in construction. After spending 10 years in Crystal, George and Susan built their forever home in Maple Grove, where they raised their three children.

Although he made his home in the city, George never left farming behind. He continued to farm the land he owned in Swift County throughout his adult life.

George found great joy in hunting, fishing, camping, and sharing coffee and conversation with friends. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband to Susan and loved her deeply throughout their 62 years together.
