William D. Gades Jr., 82, of Benson

William D. Gades Jr., 82, of Benson died Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Benson.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2013, at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson, with Rev. Dennis McManus officiating.
Burial followed the service at the Benson City Cemetery. Visitation was held for one hour prior to the service Monday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson was in charge of the arrangements.
William Darold Gades Jr., was born July 15, 1931, in Tara Township, Swift County, the son of Frederick William and Viola Augusta (Hoffman) Gades. He was baptized August 2, 1931, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairfield Township, and May 13, 1945, he was confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Danvers. He attended District #50 country school in Tara Township.
December 5, 1950, he was united in marriage to Irene Lydia Volkman, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hancock. This union was blessed with six children and over 62 years of marriage. They farmed in Tara Townhship for 40+ years, retiring in 1993. He sold Keltgen and Micogen corn for 25 years. He worked various seasonal jobs during farming and retirement, at Kratt and Nelson, Lorenz Mfg., and TCI. He did custom combining with Foslien and Glacial Plains, and other farm work.
He enjoyed refurbishing Allis Chalmers tractors, bowling, hunting, fishing, and being with family. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson.
William was called from this life Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at the Golden Living Center-Meadowlane Care Center in Benson. He attained the age of 82 years, two months, and 18 days.
William is survived by his wife, Irene of Benson; Kevin (Bonnie) Gades of Alexandria, Curtis Gades of Benson, Kim Gades of Fargo, Kendall Gades of Benson, Rhonda (Tim) Osterman of East Bethel, Stacie (Dudley) Nash of Benson; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Emmergene Ehrenberg of Appleton, Lanora (Harold) Sharstrom of Waite Park, and Renata (Leo) Riley of Morris.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Sr. and Viola, a granddaughter Kelly Gades, a brother Delmar Gades, and sisters Wilma Tjosaas, and Bernelda Sather.
