Tostenson, Nagler, and Kallstrom earn 2018 BKMS boys track awards

Jon Tostenson, senior from KMS, earned the Benson-KMS boys track MVP award for 2018, while junior Mike Nagler was selected for the Most Improved Award, and ninth-grader Brandon Kallstrom earned the Coaches’ Award.  It was the second-straight MVP honor for Tostenson, who qualified to state in the 800 meter run in 2015-2017, but came up just short this season.
He was a strong middle and long-distance runner for the Fighting Braves, and also ran on the 1600 and 3200 meter relays.
Nagler was also a strong middle-distance, pole vault and relay man for the Braves, while Kallstrom competed in the sprints, long jump, triple jump, high jump, and relays.
•  Seniors lost to graduation from this year’s team are Jon Tostenson and Oscar Padilla.
•  The boys team, coached by Chad Carroll and Adam Nokleby, placed fourth at four different meets this season -- two early-season Benson Invitationals, the 5-team NLS Invitational, and the 8-team YME Invitational.  The team went on to place sixth of eight teams at the sub-section meet and 19th of 25 teams at the Section 6A Meet.
At the section meet, Jon Tostenson earned fourth in the 800 meter run (2:03.27), while  Brady Ascheman was fifth in the 3200 meter run (10:42.55) for all six of their team’s points....
