KMS football bounces back with 56-7 blowout over LPGE

After winning their first two games of the season, the KMS football team dropped their next two and came into their homecoming game against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Sept. 27 with an even 2-2 record. The Saints got back on the winning track in a big way with a 56-7 win on the back of Jett Olson’s six rushing touchdowns.
KMS absolutely exploded out of the gates in the first quarter with five touchdowns, four for Jett Olson alone. Jett Olson scored on runs of 20, 45, 11 and seven. Trey Gunderson had the other score for KMS on their second score of the game on a 22-yard run. After the first quarter, KMS held a huge 35-0 advantage.
The Saints kept scoring in the second quarter. A seven yard touchdown run from Logan Rudningen made it 42-0. Jett Olson scored his fifth and sixth touchdowns of the game on runs of two yards and 40 yards to make the halftime score 56-0.
KMS put the game in cruise control in the second half. The Thunder did spoil the KMS shutout with a touchdown in the third quarter, but the Saints still managed to secure the 56-7 win to improve to 3-2.
KMS finished the game with 365 yards on the ground and 45 in the air for 410 yards of total offense. The Saint defense held LPGE under 100 yards to just 67 yards of total offense.
Olson finished with 212 yards rushing on 15 carries and got into the endzone six times. Gunderson also got over the century mark with 115 yards on five carries and one touchdown. Kylen Payne had two carries for 15 yards and Logan Rudningen had one carry for seven yards and a touchdown.
