Joyce Julaine Jossart was born June 6, 1938, to Ralph (Shorty) and Esther Jossart. She attended school in Benson. After graduation, she attended Concordia College-Moorhead. During her years in the Twin Cities, Joyce belonged to many women’s circles, especially those that featured spirituality and singing. She was well-loved for creating sacred music that she shared generously with many communities. She was also well known for her devotion to her children, grandchildren and their children, her beautiful voice, her direct manner and her salty humor. She stood for justice, kindness, tolerance, and acceptance. She always found dandelions, butterflies, dragonflies and sea shells very special. She loved watching the woman’s professional basketball team, the Lynx. Her favorite player was Lindsay Whalen. She enjoyed the Gophers - mens and womens basketball and football. She tolerated the Vikings and Twins and followed college football like you wouldn’t believe. She will be missed by all.
She is survived by her children: David (Maura) Cleland of Silver Springs, MD, Julie (Paul) Heuer of Fargo, ND, Daniel (Lori) Cleland of Big Lake and Donald (Sharon Byce) Cleland of Parker, CO; 11 grandchildren: Beau (Aylin), Wade (Kat), Zachary (Stephanie), Amanda, Ryan, Kevin, Drew, Brittni Cleland, Amy (Mike) Yount, Jeremy and Dylan Heuer; six great-grandchildren: Byran Yount, William, Bruce, Wyatt, Lyra, Teddy Cleland; brothers: Merle (Pat) and Curt (Sarah) Jossart; sisters-in-law Peggy and Tony Jossart; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph (Shorty) and Esther and brothers, Ron and Jim.
