The Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Fighting Saints wrestling team had two wrestlers medal at the Class A State Wrestling Tournament this past Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Freshman Trey Gunderson finished third at 120 pounds while sophomore Adamaris Chable Rodriguez took sixth in her first time competing at the girls state tournament. Jett Olson went 0-2 in his first state trip as a sophomore.
Gunderson opened his 120-pound state tournament with a 1:34 pin over David Schuh of Tracy-Milroy-Balaton / Westbrook / Walnut Grove.
“Trey had a quick first round pin,” KMS co-head coach Trevor Mahlum said. “He gave up a quick takedown, but was able to reverse quickly. Got back to the center of the mat and ran a tough arm bar for the fall.”
