Swift County is apparently facing no action by the state or private parties in relation to the death of William Dalmore, 45, of Bismarck, N.D., while in custody at the Swift County Jail.
Delmore had been arrested Aug. 1, 2022, on a DWI charge by the Benson Police Department and died while in custody Aug. 2., 2022.
Pursuant to state statute, “all sudden or unexpected deaths must be reported when any inmate passes away while at a public institution and an investigation and autopsy will be performed,” Swift County Attorney Danielle Olson stated in an email to the Monitor-News.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), which assisted with the death investigation, and the Swift County Sheriff’s Office complied with the requirement for the autopsy, Olson said.
