With another 7 inches of snow Friday night into Saturday morning, the area’s record snowfall total keeps getting higher.

As of Monday, the Benson area had received 87.3 inches of snow. That total has shattered the old record of 78.5 inches from the winter of 2018-2019 and more snow is on the way.

The National Weather Service issued yet another Winter Storm Watch for western Minnesota for Tuesday into Wednesday morning. The area is expected to see rain, freezing rain, and snow. One to 3 inches of snow is possible.

In the 70 years of daily weather records kept for the City of Benson, no winter season had seen 80 inches of snowfall until this season. Now, the area might reach 90 inches.
