Are groves growing over old tile lines?

In its role as the Swift County Ditch Authority, members of the county board of commissioners were asked to decide on a ditch avoidance request at its meeting Tuesday, March 21, but faced a much larger question in the process.

The immediate issue involved a failed tile line running from farmland James Holleman owned in Benson Township through a grove of trees on the Mark and Nancy Loen-Erickson property. Roots from the trees were blocking the flow of the tile land, preventing drainage of Holleman’s land.
