Edward Valentine Stiel, 96, of Plymouth, Minnesota  (formerly of Benson and San Benito, TX), died peacefully at home surrounded by his family Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, Minnesota. Interment will be at Church of Visitation Cemetery in Danvers.

Edward Valentine Stiel was born September 9, 1927, in Benson, to Fred and Theresa Stiel. He grew up on a farm near Danvers.

August 23, 1950, Ed married Regina “Jean” Mitteness in Holloway. Together they raised seven children: Monica, James, Julie, Marcia, Brenda, Steven, and Stacie.

Ed lived and worked on a farm near Danvers. He attended Danvers School. Ed became a police officer with the Benson Police Department and moved to Benson in 1969. He also worked at Meadow Lane Nursing Home in Benson.

Ed enjoyed camping, music, playing guitar, square dancing, traveling, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Ed is survived by his children: Monica Stiel of Spicer,  James (Teresa) Stiel of Cold Water, MS, Julie (Earl) Knutson of Canadaquia, NY, Marcia (Brad) Stoesz of Eden Prairie, Brenda (Dave) Rutledge of Plymouth, and Steve (Debbie) Stiel of Phoenix, AZ; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Theresa Stiel, his wife Regina “Jean” (June 15, 2019), his daughter Stacie Stiel (September 20, 2012,) three brothers, and three sisters.
