Water tower repainting begins next week
Iconic water tower to get a new color scheme, drained as work progresses
Work should start this coming week on repainting the Benson water tower outside and a thorough cleaning of its inside. That means it will have to be nearly drained of water. The work is expected to last into early August...At this time, the city plans to regulate yard and garden watering through a schedule that has people living at odd-numbered addresses water on odd-numbered days and those at even-numbered addresses water on even-numbered days...Benson’s council recognizes that it will be difficult to monitor who is watering when they shouldn’t be, and there are no penalties set for those who break the rules. Most likely, it will be a neighbor or someone driving by who sees someone watering when they shouldn’t and reports the offense to the city.
