“If the majority of teens believe that trustworthy, standards-based news is either rare or nonexistent in today’s information environment, this belief… threatens the viability of the press as an important watchdog and guardian of democracy,” the News Literacy Project says...Teens face a real challenge in understanding who constitutes the press and distinguishing between news produced by professional journalists and that of commentators, influencers, family and friends, foreign adversaries, and political parties.
