Roger William Barrett, 81, of Clara City, Minnesota died Tuesday, May 21. His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 29 at Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church in rural DeGraff. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28 at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Clara City and continue one hour prior to his service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Roger William Barrett was born September 7, 1942, to Earl and Agnes (Lee) Barrett in Benson. He was baptized and later confirmed at Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church in DeGraff. He attended elementary school in Benson and later graduated in 1960. While in high school,  Roger started working for Olson Turkey Farm in Swift Falls.
Following his graduation, he enlisted in the National Guard. After his basic training he was stationed in Virginia where he studied to be a diesel mechanic.
October 7, 1967, Roger was united in marriage to Joan Pittman. They made their home in Clara City and to this union three sons were born: Scott, Jeff and Keith. Roger started working for Fritz Trucking as a truck driver before working at Tyler in Benson and eventually driving truck for road construction.
Roger enjoyed walleye fishing, camping at Dilly’s Resort on West Norway Lake, going to the casino, and spending time with his family.
Roger is survived by his sons: Scott (Jackie) Barrett of DeGraff, and Keith Barrett of Granite Falls; six grandchildren: Danielle Barrett, Brandon (Lexi) Barrett, Jordan (Eli) Barrett, Faith Barrett, Joshua Ronholdt and Chase Buckmann; and six great-grandchildren: Avery, Ramsey, Buckley, Ambrey, Amethyst and Malachite. He is also survived by siblings: Alan Barrett, Alice (Gary) Seiler, Luverne (Ilse) Barrett, Dale (Dee) Barrett, and Grace (Gary) Schwartz.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; parents; son Jeff Barrett and sisters-in-law: Kathy Barrett and Janet Marquardt.
