Dorine Catherine Franzmeier passed away Tuesday evening, June 11, 2024, at the St. Cloud Hospital. She attained 78 years, two months, and 20 days of age.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, with the Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. Clara Catholic Cemetery in Clara City.
Dorine C. Franzmeier was born March 22, 1946, in Montevideo, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry Eugene and Virgel Frances (Sanderson) Straus.
Dorine was raised in the Montevideo area where she attended school and graduated from Maynard High School.
Dorine lived and worked in the Benson area for more than 60 years. For 36 of those years, she served as a bus driver for Benson Public Schools…a career that she loved! Since January 27, 2005, she has been working with the Benson Hockey Association with their charitable gambling. She volunteered at St. Francis Catholic Church helping to prepare food for funerals for many years. Dorine enjoyed playing cards with her women’s group, going to BINGO, thrift stores, estate sales, garage sales, and the casino with her friends.  
Dorine is survived by her sons: Daniel Franzmeier of Altamonte Springs, FL and Donald (Nichole) Franzmeier of Pillager; her grandchildren: Ashley Franzmeier and Shayla Franzmeier; her great-grandchildren: Kaleb, Kaden, and Ezra; her brother Dennis (Jeanne) Straus of Chaska; her sister-in-law Mary Straus of Willmar; her nephews: John (Pam) Straus, Chad (Melissa) Straus, David Christenson, and Mike (Kris) Christenson; her nieces: Shelley (Patrick) Boyle, Cindy Dahlseid, and Lisa (Keith) Willgohs; and many great-nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
Dorine was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Virgel Straus; her brother Gene Straus; and her sister JoAnn (Bob) Christenson.
