Hoffman, Reigstad seek sheriff’s job
Races for sheriff, county board on ballot
Former Swift County Sheriff’s Deputy John Reigstad has filed for the four-year sheriff’s job, as has current Chief Deputy Mike Hoffman. Reigstad currently lives in Swift County but is a Stevens County deputy.
County board races develop
Swift County Commissioners Ed Pederson, District 2 – south Benson Township and north Benson, is seeking reelection but will face opposition in the November election. Benson businessman Troy Kennedy has filed to run against him. In District 4, Larry Mahoney has filed for reelection but also faces a challenger. Tom Walsh of rural Murdock has filed for the office as well. Commissioners Pete Peterson, District 3-south Benson and Torning Township, Eric Rudningen, District 5-Kerkhoven, and Gary Hendrickx, District 1-Appleton are in the second year of their four-year terms.

Gerads only county attorney candidate
Interim County Attorney Debora Gerads, who was appointed to the job early this year following the resignation of former County Attorney Danielle Olson has filed for the job. She has no opposition on the ballot.

In the race for the Minnesota 7th District U.S. House seat, Republican Rep. Michelle Fischbach will be facing off against the winner of the primary election race between two Democratic-Farmer-Labor candidates.
Erik Osberg and Steve Carlson are seeking to be the DFL Party’s representative.
Key Election Dates in June
• Training for election judges takes place between June 12 and Oct. 31.
• Mail ballots for state primary elections will be sent June 26-July 14.
• In-person absentee voting for the primaries is open June 26-Aug. 10.
• Campaign signs may be placed starting June 26 and remain until Nov. 13.
