Farmland sales for 2027 assessments down considerably

Tax valuations for farmland for taxes payable in 2027 have been set but for the current assessment period, the number of sales upon which they are figured has fallen considerably over the past two years.
For setting land assessments in 2025, Swift County Assessor Joe Tschida was working with 50 sales. For 2026’s assessments, that number fell to 34. For setting farmland values for 2027, Tschida is working with just 23 sales.
