Chester Svea of Benson, Minnesota died on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Swift County Benson Health Services.
 
Chet was born in Benson, Minnesota to Albert and Gina (Haugen) Svea on December 4, 1919.  Chet served his country during WWII with the United States Army in India, Burma, and China.
 
He is survived by daughters Jo (Tim) Hanson of East Lansing, Michigan and Jill (Bill) Wargin of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
 
Chet is also survived by grandchildren Loralee (Tom) Deschane, Stephanie (Brett) Vander Bloemen, Brent Yates, Brooke (Bob) Bakken, Lauren Trimble, Mark (Molly) Wargin, Eric (Jenny) Wargin, and Lisa (Steve) Hartzfeld; and great-grandchildren Tony Deschane, Matt Deschane, Samantha Vander Bloemen, Lily Vander Bloemen, Avery Wargin, Parker Hartzfeld, Maxwell Hartzfeld, John Yates, Victoria Yates, Sam Bakken, and Ben Bakken.

Duane Baker, age 76, of Glenwood, MN, died October 20, 2016, at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 25th, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Swift Falls, with Rev. Ron Knutson officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home in Brooten, and will continue at the church on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Rolling Forks Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Duane John Baker, son of Frank and Clara (Anderson) Baker, was born on February 13, 1940, in Benson, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church and raised on a farm near Swift Falls with his three brothers, Gene, Gary, and Norman. Duane first attended country school before graduating from Benson High School in 1958.

Steven G. Smith, 44 of Kerkhoven, died peacefully at his home on Friday, October 21, 2016.  His memorial service will be 1:30pm on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Kerkhoven Evangelical Free in Kerkhoven.  Burial will be at Our Redeemer Church Cemetery in Benson.  Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm on Friday at the Kerkhoven Evangelical Free Church and will continue one hour prior to the service.  Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home, Kerkhoven.  www.hafh.org

Dennis Arthur Daniels

Dennis Arthur Daniels was born on May 30, 1942 in Primghar, Iowa to Arthur and Mabel (Richter) Daniels, their only son. Dennis attended school in Missouri and then graduated high school from Sheldon, Iowa.

Married on May 10, 1963 to Sherry Anderson of Sheldon, Iowa. The daughter of John and Margaret Anderson. Dennis and Sherry were married for 53 years and had three children. Todd Mitchel Daniels currently living in Grand Forks, North Dakota; Terry Lee Daniels currently living in Warsaw, New York; Tami Joy Boe currently living in Saint Michael, Minnesota. Dennis and Sherry have five grandchildren, Avery John Arthur Boe, 12 years old, Jaxson Daniels Boe, 11 years old, Courtney Lee Daniels, 11 years old, Carson Patrick Daniels, 9 years old, Bellamy Durham Boe, 6 years old.

Dennis in his early years enjoyed such hobbies as gunsmithing. He bought and traded guns, enjoyed trap shooting, rode motorcycles and snowmobiles and also had his pilot license.

Diederich, 92, of Kerkhoven died Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Centra Care Center in Sauk Centre.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, October 26th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be 5-7:00 pm, Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Kerkhoven Funeral Home.  www.hafh.org

Thomas “Tom” A. Graham, 86, of Benson, Minnesota died October 16, 2016, at the St. Cloud Hospital.  Visitation was from 12 - 1 p.m., followed by the funeral at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Benson.  Interment was in the Benson City Cemetery.  

Thomas “Tom” A. Graham was born May 29, 1930 in Benson to Thomas J. and Anna M. (Zengel) Graham. He was baptized and confirmed at the Pilgrim Congregational Church.  Tom grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson High School in 1948.  He joined the MN National Guard in 1947 and later served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict until his Honorable Discharge in 1951.

Jesse E. Pahl, 103, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Benson. Visitation was from 4-6 p.m.  Thursday, October 20 and continued from 10-11 a.m.  Friday, October 21, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., all at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.

Interment was in the St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery in DeGraff, MN.

Jesse Earl Pahl was born  October 22, 1912 in Fowlerton, Texas, the son of Otto and Mathilda Martha (Schmidt) Pahl. He grew up in the Chokio, Minnesota area and on many farms in western Swift County. He attended school at Artichoke Lake country school in Shible Township through the sixth grade.  As a teenager, he started working on farms to support his family.

Agnes Karoline Sylte, 91, of Nashville, Tennessee died Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Southern Hills Medical Center.  

Visitation was from 10-11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson, Minnesota.

Agnes Karoline Hansen Sylte, the eldest of four children, was born in Brooklyn, NY to Wilhelmina Sandine Jødine Sommensen Hansen and Kristian Ulrickson Hansen  October 17 in the year of our Lord 1924. She was brought by God into His Kingdom through His Holy Baptism  November 13, 1925, and affirmed her Christ-Created Faith through her Confirmation in 1938, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Brooklyn, New York.

Rose Mary Nokleby, 91, of Montevideo, Minnesota passed away peacefully October 5, 2016 in Hastings.

A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday October 29, 2016 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 Black Oak Ave., Montevideo,  with a gathering of family and friends one hour  prior to Mass at church.

A private interment will take place at the Hillside Cemetery in Havelock Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated to the Red Wing Mayo Hospice, and the Regina Senior Living.

Rose Mary grew up on a farm in Swift County, went to country school, then high school in Benson. She married Vernal Nokleby and they farmed in Mandt Township. They semi-retired in 1976 and began many years of travel in Europe and the U.S., including camping and living in their trailer at the lake.

Palmer R. Pederson, 93, of Benson, Minnesota, died Friday, September 23, 2016 in the Swift County Benson Hospital.  Interment will be held at a later date in the Swift Falls Cemetery.

Palmer R. Pederson was born October 27, 1922 in Swift Falls, Minnesota to Peter Johan and Dena Marie (Amundson) Pederson.  He grew up and attended school in Pope County.  

September 24, 1947, Palmer was united in marriage to Eleanor C. Anderson by Pastor Rohne at St. Pauli Church.  This union was blessed with just one day short of 69 years of marriage.  They lived in Swift Falls, Pope County and he worked in farming and at Anderson Ready Mix Plant.  His interests included fishing, hunting, and woodworking.
