James Elvin Nordaune, age 67, of Benson

James Elvin Nordaune, age 67, of Benson, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at the VA Hospital in St. Cloud.  He was surrounded by his family and second family, the staff of building 51.  Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson, with Rev. Gary Brandenburg officiating.  Interment will be at the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Benson.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. noon to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014, at the church.  Arrangements are with Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.  www.zniewskifuneralhome.com

Lois Dokken, 87, Benson

Lois Dokken, 87, passed away on March 24, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Benson.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Benson, with Pastor William Warnock officiating.  Interment will be at Benson City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church.     Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.  www.zniewskifuneralhome.com
 
Lois Mae Dokken was born on November 05, 1926, in Six Mile Grove Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Emile Morton Anderson. She was baptized on June 12, 1927 at the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Danvers and she was confirmed at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Benson on April 06, 1941.  She grew up in Six Mile Grove Township and attended country school.

Michael N.  Pederson, 91, died at his home near Benson, on March 13, 2014.  Funeral services will be held at  1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson.  Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Douglas W. Kampff, 84, of Benson (formerly of Minneapolis)

Douglas W. Kampff, 84, of Benson (formerly of Minneapolis), passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Golden Living Center-Meadow Lane in Benson.
Funeral services are Saturday, March 15 at Hillside Chapel in Minneapolis.  Burial with military honors is at Hillside Cemetery.
Douglas was a proud US Army vet and a passionate animal lover. He loved Benson and its residents, especially his neighbors at Scofield Place.
He is survived by his daughter Patricia Ann (Charlie) Volk of Benson and a son, James, of Benson and a granddaughter, Amy Otterson of Renville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty and a daughter, Sarah Jo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Visitation Catholic Church in Danvers with Father William Sprigler officiating.  Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson, MN.

Merlin William Rau, age 90, of Kensington, Minnesota died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, Minnesota
Services are 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Oscar Lake Lutheran Church in Farwell, Minnesota with Rev. Denise Croskey officiating.  Interment will be held in the Swenoda Lutheran Cemetery in Swenoda Township, Swift County, Minnesota.
Visitation are 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Oscar Lake Lutheran Church in Farwell, Minnesota.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service.

Services:  10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Benson, with Rev. Dennis McManus officiating.  Interment will be held at a later date in the Benson City Cemetery.
Visitation: will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.

Glen Arthur Mills, 87, of Great Falls

Glen Arthur Mills, 87, of Great Falls, passed away on March 7, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Glen was born on January 25, 1927 in Maynard, Minnesota to Samuel and Helma (Siverhus) Mills. While WWII was raging, he had such a great desire to serve his country that he lied about his age and enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 16. In 1957, he transferred from the Navy to the Air Force from which he retired in 1966. Glen then took over the family farm in Watson, Minnesota and worked there until it was sold in 1981.

He married Blanche Foote on July 25, 2000.

Glen enjoyed following the grandkids around in his retirement. Hunting game, especially white tail deer, and fishing walleyes were favorite pastimes for him.

Donna Mae Gades, 87, Wayzata, formerly of Benson

Donna Mae Gades, 87, died March 4, 2014 at Golden Living of Hillcrest, Wazata, MN.  Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Holloway, with interment immediately following at the church cemetery.

Donna was born on November 9, 1926, at home in Shible township to parents Leonard and Alma (Winkelman) Anderson.  Donna was baptized on November 13, 1926 and was confirmed on March 17, 1939, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Holloway.  She was raised in the Holloway area and graduated from Holloway High School in May of 1944.

Loren August Peterson, 93, of Kerkhoven

Loren August Peterson, 93, of Kerkhoven, died Thursday March 6th at Rice Memorial Hospital, in Willmar. His memorial service will be at 11 am on Saturday, March 8th at Bethel Baptist Church, in Kerkhoven. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a spring burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the family. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home, in Kerkhoven.

 

Loren was born on April 12, 1920 to August and Margaret (Johnson) Peterson in Kerkhoven. He attended country school then Kerkhoven Elementary before graduating from Benson High School in 1938. After high school Loren was active in the Air Force. He served from 1942 to 1945 before becoming honorably discharged.
