John James “Jim” O’Connor, 87, of Benson, Minnesota, died Tuesday, May 14, 2019, in St. Cloud.  Visitation was from 5-7 p.m., Friday, May 17, 2019, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.  Visitation continued from 10-11 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2019, at St. Francis Catholic Church.  Interment was in the church cemetery. 

John James “Jim” O’Connor was born November 7, 1931, in Benson, the son of John and Ethel (McQuaid) O’Connor. He grew up and attended grade school in Benson. He graduated from Benson Senior High School.  He served in the United States Army from May 28, 1953 to May 27, 1955.

Robert Petersen, 93, of Glenwood, Minnesota died Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Glenwood Retirement Village.

Robert was born May 22, 1925 in Montevideo, the son of Ludvig and Margarethe Petersen. He was baptized at home. The family later moved to Benson where Robert grew up and attended school. He later served his country during WWII in the United States Navy where he earned his GED while in the service. After his service, he attended trade school and then became a machinist.

Kenneth R. Wrobleski, “Kenny Ray”, 64, of Benson, Minnesota died  Monday evening, May 13, 2019, at his home near Benson. Visitation was held Friday May 17, 2019 at the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Private interment was held at the Benson City Cemetery.

Kenneth Raymond “Kenny Ray” Wrobleski, 64, was born August 22, 1954, in Benson, Minnesota the son of Frank and Loretta (Kedrowski). He grew up in Benson and graduated from Benson Senior High School. He worked for Roger Olson Construction, Lor-al, CNH, and Hancock Concrete.  

February 7, 1997, Kenny was united in marriage to Linda Kay (Prekker Mathis) in Milbank, South Dakota.  They were blessed with 22 years of marriage. Kenny enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and playing softball. He loved old cars and his 1966 Chevy panel was his “Baby”.

Mary K. Matthews, 90, of Willmar, Minnesota passed away peacefully at her home May 11, 2019.

There was a Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock, Minnesota, Monday, May 20, 2019 with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Private internment was at the Sacred Heart cemetery in Murdock.   In lieu of flowers, memorials were preferred to the American Cancer Society, Willmar hospice, or donor’s choice.

Abner M. Jacobson
June 14, 1925 • May 7, 2019

Abner Melborne Jacobson, 93, of Benson, Minnesota passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Homestead North in Benson, Minnesota under Rice Hospice Care and the caring staff at Homestead North.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18 with a visitation two hours prior to the service at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, 800 10th Street South, Benson. A reception will follow.  Interment will be at Rolling Forks Cemetery.

Abner was born June 14, 1925 in Rolling Forks Township, Pope County, the son of Peter and Nanna Jacobson.  He was Baptized July 12, 1925 at Rolling Forks Lutheran Church by Rev. GG Betto and Confirmed June 25, 1939 at Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church in Terrace by Rev. GG Betto.  

He attended school in District 14, Rolling Forks Township and briefly at the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, Minnesota.

Irene G. McGeary, 94, of Benson, Minnesota (formerly of Danvers) died  Sunday morning, May 5, 2019, at the Scandi Haven Village in Benson. Visitation was held  Friday, May 10 at the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary, and continued for one hour prior to the service at the Church of the Visitation in Danvers, Saturday.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Visitation in Danvers. Interment followed the service in the Church of the Visitation Catholic Cemetery.

  Elaine M. Mikkelson, 83, of Glenwood, died peacefully at home  April 28, 2019. A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Randy Chrissis,  was held Monday, May 6 at Glenwood Lutheran Church. Inurnment in Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery took place following the service. Arrangements were with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Sheila Rae Jeffery, 71, of Benson, Minnesota died Thursday evening, May 2, 2019, at Scandi Haven Village in Benson. Visitation was held Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; with a 7:00 p.m. Parish Prayer Service. Interment will be held at the St. Malachy Catholic Cemetery in Clontarf at a later date.
Sheila Rae Jeffery, was born February 22, 1948 in St. Cloud, Minnesota, the daughter of Ray and Alyce (Reardon) Amlin. She grew up and attended Elementary School in Clontarf, Minnesota. She graduated from Benson Senior High School in 1966.  After high school, she attended Business College in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Bernice Ruth Rodi, 93, died Friday, May 3, 2019, at Gabriel House in Murdock, Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.  Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m., Friday, May 10, 2019, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Swift Falls. Interment will be in the St. Pauli Cemetery in Swift Falls.

Bernice Ruth Rodi was born October 30, 1925, at home in Camp Lake Township, Swift County, the daughter of Bernt and Ruby (Hanson) Thompson.  She was baptized November 20, 1925 and confirmed June 11, 1937, at Rolling Forks Lutheran Church.  She grew up in Swift County and attended Country School District 73, Riverside School and Murdock High School.
