Audrey Marilyn (Halvorson) Hovland

Audrey Hovland of Alexandria (formerly of Montevideo) died  Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Bethany Community Nursing Home in Alexandria, Minnesota at the age of 76.  
Memorial Services were conducted  Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Tim Ehling officiating. Organist was Sue Bye and vocalist was Beth Hampton who sang “The Lord’s Prayer”. Congregational hymns were  “On Eagle’s Wings”   “Jesus Loves Me”   “We Are Baptized In Christ Jesus” and “How Great Thou Art”.  
Visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 5-7 p.m. at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Allyn M. Kuhnau, age 61, of Alexandria, formerly of Benson

Allyn M. Kuhnau, age 61, of Alexandria, and formerly of Benson.  Allyn Marjorie (Smith) Kuhnau, 61, died Saturday, February 22, 2014.
Funeral services were held  Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at  2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria.  
Burial was at Kinkead Cemetery.   
Allyn was born December 26, 1952 in Benson, Minnesota, the daughter of Ray and Mary Smith. She attended school in Benson and graduated from Benson High School in 1970.

Gary William McDaniel, age 65, of Prior Lake (formerly of Benson)

Gary William McDaniel, age 65, of Prior Lake, MN passed away on Saturday, February 22nd, 2014, from cardiac arrest. 

Gary (Quacker) formerly of Benson, MN. was born September 30, 1948. A longtime owner of Gary’s Men’s Wear in Benson, MN. Gary’s outside interests were wine making, he was a member of JAB Homebrewing Association, fishing with his many friends, going to the casino and he loved doing Sudoku puzzles. He was a long time member of the Benson Jaycee Chapter.

Gary is survived by his wife, Marjorie Nelson of Prior Lake, his children, William McDaniel of Prior Lake and special friend Sierra Riggs of Crystal, MN, step-son Chad (Lia) Nelson of Shanghai, China, grandson Vincent McDaniel of Crystal, MN , step-grandson Terry Nelson of Woodstock, IL , and his brother Brad (Jackie) McDaniel of Holcombe, WI. He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather. He will be truly missed by his family and many friends.

Jeanette M. Cronen, age 95, of Benson, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Golden Living Center-Meadow Lane Healthcare Center in Benson, Minnesota.
 
Services are at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 14, 2014, at the Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson.  Interment will be held in the Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
 
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
 
Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson, MN.

Jean P. Maanum, age 87, of Benson, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Services are at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson, with Rev. Paul Idstrom officiating.
Visitation is from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson, MN.

Archie Brott, age 90, of Benson

Archie Brott, age 90, of Benson, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the Homestead Place North in Benson, Minnesota.
 Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2014, at the Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson.  Interment will be held at the Benson City Cemetery.
 Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ron Goff, age 68, Little Falls (formerly of Benson)

Ron Goff, age 68, was born at Benson, MN December 30, 1945, and graduated from Hancock High School where he played football and was named All-Conference   quarterback his Junior and Senior Years.  He graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris where he played football all four years.  Ron taught high school history and coached several sports-football, both girls and boys basketball, baseball, softball, track and soccer-at Gary SD, Cabot VT, Winona Cotter, Clinton, and Marshall.
 
Coach Goff shared his passion for sports with Daughter #1 Julie, Daughter #1 Michelle, and Daughter #1 Jennifer.  He enjoyed talking farming and sports and recently was a Lakeview Lakers fan.  His memory was amazing, and somehow he kept current with past students.  Ron had a ready smile and a greeting for everyone.
 
Though in failing health the past ten years, Ron died unexpectedly at Harmony House in Little Falls February 10.

Robert Erenberg, 93, of Benson

Robert Erenberg, 93, of Benson, died on Saturday at his home in Benson.  The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, 1:30 PM, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson with Pastor Seth Novak officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.
 
Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:00 Noon until time of the service at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church.  Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson is handling the arrangements of Robert Erenberg.
 
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Benson; four children: Mark Erenberg of Lauderdale, MN, David (Vicki) Erenberg of Anoka, Susan (Rudy) Palenik of Columbus, OH, and Anita (Richard) Gallagher of Excelsior; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other family.  Znieweski Funeral Home in Benson is handling the arrangements.

Ruby Simonson, age 84, of Benson

Ruby Simonson, age 84, of Benson, passed away February 6, 2014.  She was born on June 18, 1929 in Barsness Township, Pope County, MN, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Halvorson) Hagen.  Ruby was baptized at Barsness Lutheran Church and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  She graduated from Benson High School in 1947.  On October 24th, 1947 Ruby was united in marriage to Reuben Simonson at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  Together they were able to share in sixty-six years of marriage and were blessed with four children.  Ruby’s faith and church were very important to her.  She enjoyed bible study, sewing, raising her family and helping others.  Ruby is survived by her loving husband, Reuben; children, Rebecca (Bob) Winge of West Fargo, ND, Renae (Kenny) Jacobson of Hopkins, Bob of Benson, Mona (Jon) Hilleren of Willmar; grandchildren, Sarah, Leah, Nathan, Michael, Ben, Amanda (Shawn), Joe and Greg; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Clara and Liam; and other family and friends.
