Brenda Jean Kurkosky-Ingebretson, 45, died on Sunday morning, October 14, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, and will continue on Saturday, October 20 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday October 20, at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.
Interment will be in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Benson. 

Brenda Jean Kurkosky-Ingrebretson was born July 14, 1973, in Appleton, Minnesota, the daughter of Gerald and Linda Wrobleski Kurkosky. July 29, 1973, she was baptized at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. April 26, 1981, she received her first communion and May 11, 1990, she was confirmed by the Bishop Raymond Lucker at St. Francis Catholic Church. She graduated from Benson Senior High School in 1991.

Marjorie “Marge” Evenson, 90, Benson, Minnesota, died Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at home under Hospice care.  

Visitation was from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, October 14, 2018, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson.  Visitation continued from 10-11 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m., Monday, October 15, 2018, at the church.  Interment was in Swenoda Lutheran Cemetery.  

Marjorie Ann Lou (Holstad) Evenson was born January 18, 1928, to Agnes (Norby) Holstad and Henry Holstad.  She was baptized and confirmed at Swenoda Lutheran Church.  Marge grew up on a farm in Swift County where she helped her dad with farm work.  She dreamed of becoming a dancer, and although she never became one, she did marry her life-long dancing partner, Floyd O. Evenson, at Our Redeemer’s parsonage December 7, 1944.  They were married for almost 60 years.

Sharon Hanson, 76, of Willmar, Minnesota (formerly of Appleton and Benson) died Monday, Sep. 24, 2018 in the St. Cloud Hospital.  Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson.  Pastor Art Wiese officiated.  Interment was in the Appleton City Cemetery.

Sharon Lenore Hanson was born July 19, 1942 in Appleton, the daughter of Wilfred and Leonora (Maynard) Stock.  She was baptized August 23, 1942 and was confirmed June 9, 1957, both at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton.  Sharon was raised in Appleton where she graduated from Appleton High School, Class of 1960.  She earned a two year accounting degree and also completed courses in Women’s Studies.  

November 27, 1960, she was united in marriage to Reuben Hanson at Zion Lutheran Church by Pastor Clifford Nelson.  This union was blessed with one daughter, Terri, and over 54 years together.

Dorothy Ann Bjerk, 85, of Owatonna, Minnesota, died Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  

Visitation was at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10-11 a.m.  Memorial services were held September 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church with The Rev. Kirk Griebel officiating. Memorials are preferred to donor’s choice or Redeemer Lutheran Church.

She was born December 3, 1932 in Milford, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar and Fleeta (Smith) Larsen.

Dorothy grew up in Alta, IA and attended Fairview High School with her siblings. She enjoyed playing the trumpet and was a member of the girl’s basketball team. After graduation, Dorothy married Willard Fjordbak, January 14, 1951, in Truesdale, IA.

Catherine F. “Kitty” Erhardt, 89, of Benson, Minnesota, died  Monday morning, September 24, 2018, at the Meadow Lane Care Center in Benson.

Visitation was be held Thursday, Sept. 27, from 5-7 p.m. at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson, with a 4:30 p.m. rosary and a 7:00 p.m. Parish Prayer service. Visitation continued one hour prior to the Mass of Christian Burial, which was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at the Church of the Visitation Catholic Church in Danvers. Interment was at the Visitation Catholic Church Cemetery in Danvers.

Paul M. Hilleren, 64, of Glyndon, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018 at the Sanford Medical Center.

Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 28, 2018 at 6 p.m. with a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Minnesota, in the Christian Life Center. All are welcome.

Interment will be  at the Buffalo Lake Lutheran Cemetery in Chippewa County, Minnesota, at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.

Hazel Harguth,  97, of Clara City, Minnesota passed away, surrounded by her loving family, Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Clara City Care Center.

Mass of the Resurrection was held Friday, September 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clara Catholic Church in Clara City with burial in the church cemetery.

Hazel Dorthea Harguth was born October 6, 1920, in Crate Township, rural Clara City, Minnesota, to John and Christine (Johnson) Uttermark.  She was baptized  July 24, 1921, and later confirmed in her faith in 1934, both at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City.  Later, Hazel joined the Catholic Church and embraced the doctrine.  She grew up on the family farm and attended District #57 and later the Maynard High School.

Vernon Arnold, 87, of Holloway, Minnesota, died Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the VA Healthcare System in St. Cloud.  

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 8 at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton.  Pastor Roger Fears officiated.  Pati Arnold accompanied the congregation in the singing of the hymns.  Honorary Casketbearers were Vernon’s great-grandchildren and the Western Prairie Farm Collectors Club. Casketbearers were Vernon’s grandchildren: Jacob Munsterman, Joseph, Jennifer, Joshua, Matthew, and Mallory Arnold, Amber Tuff, Amanda Klein, and Alyssa Tosel. Military honors were provided by VFW Post #4955, AMVETS Post #151 and American Legion Post #156.  Interment was in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Moyer Township.

Beth Viola (Pederson) Pearson, 102, of Alexandria, Minnesota (formerly of Benson) died Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Grand Arbor under Hospice care. Visitation was Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 from 10-11 a.m., followed by the Celebration of Life at 11 a.m., at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson.   Interment was in the Our Redeemer’s Church cemetery.  

Beth Viola (Pederson) Pearson was born August 8, 1916, in Benson, Minnesota, to Leonard and Ella (Boyd) Pederson. She was baptized September 3, 1916 by her uncle, Rev. Christopher Pederson, and confirmed March 29, 1931, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Benson.

She attended Benson Public Schools and graduated from Benson High School in 1934. In 1936, she became Secretary for the Benson Superintendent of Schools, Walter K. De La Hunt.

Penny Lee Elizabeth Bertek, 68, of Benson, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at her home under Hospice care.  Visitation was from 2-3 p.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 3 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.  Interment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 1:05 p.m.  

Penny Lee Elizabeth Bertek was born May 17, 1950, the daughter of Dory Gloria Helliksen and Lewjay Bertek in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.  Penny grew up in Detroit Lakes and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School.  She lived in Arizona where she worked as a Flight Attendant.  She retired here in Benson.
