Alice L. Pierce, 90, of Benson

Alice L. Pierce, of Benson died Thursday, October 23,  2014, at the St. Cloud Hospital.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston on Wednesday.  Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church and also for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Kathleen Newell, 82, of Benson

Kathleen Newell, 82, of Benson, Minnesota, passed away  Monday, October 13, 2014, at the St. Cloud Hospital.  
Funeral services were held  Saturday, October 18, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in DeGraff. Visitation was  held at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson  Friday, October 17, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a Parish Rosary at 5:00 p.m.  
Interment was in the St. Bridget’s Catholic Church Cemetery in DeGraff.  
Kathleen Newell was born  March 21, 1932, in Cashel Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Loretta Bryne Newell.  
She was baptized and confirmed at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in DeGraff, and grew up on the farm in Cashel Township and in DeGraff.  She attended District #28 country school in Cashel Township and DeGraff public schools.

Elfrieda Bertha Louise Hamann, Benson, 109, Benson

The funeral service for Elfrieda Hamann was held Monday, October 20, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shible Township.  Pastor Donald Klatt officiated at the service.  Jackie Schmidt was the organist and accompanied the congregation in singing “Beautiful Savior” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”.  The grandchildren and great-grandchildren sang “Borning Cry” and Brian Hoffman sang “The Lord’s Prayer”.
Casketbearers were Todd Meichsner, Bryan Meichsner, Michael Wieser, Matthew Wieser, Kyle Running, Ryan Gronholz, Jacob Stock and Matthew Stock.  
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Elfrieda Bertha Louise Hamann was born August 16, 1905, in Fairfield Township, Swift County to parents William H. and Anna (Orloski) Schliep.  She was baptized September 24, 1905 and confirmed  March 28, 1920 both at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairfield Township.  Elfrieda attended Hancock school, country school and Fairfield Parochial School through the eighth grade.

Patrick Walsh, 79, formerly of Benson

Patrick Walsh, 79, of Shady Shores, Texas died Thursday evening, September 18, 2014, at Denton Regional Hospital,  surrounded by family.
Burial will take place Saturday, October 4, 2014, 11 a.m at St. Bridget’s Cemetery in DeGraff, Minnesota, followed by a time of fellowship at the DeGraff Community Center with the family.
Pat was born in Willmar, Minnesota to Edward and Caroline (Frederickson) Walsh and raised in Benson.
September 9, 1961, he was united in marriage to Peg Murphy of Murdock at the St. Bridgets Catholic Church in DeGraff.  To this union were born two children, daughter Terri and son Ed.
Pat and Peg lived in St. Louis Park for 32 years before moving to Shady Shores in  1995.
Pat loved to hunt, collect miniature tractors and watching TV and working in his yard, which was beautifully kept, and especially loved being with his family and loved his grandchildren.

Donald E. Stadsvold, 83, of Plymouth, formerly Swift Falls

Donald E. Stadsvold, 83, of Plymouth, Minnesota passed away Oct. 5, 2014 at North Memorial Medical Center, Robbinsdale, Minnesota.  
Services were held Friday, October 10 at  2 p.m.  at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel, 15800 37th Ave. North, Plymouth.
Interment was in the Gethsemane Cemetery, New Hope.
Don was born July 10, 1931 in Swift Falls Township, Minnesota to Palvin and Alma (Skare) Stadsvold.
Don enjoyed going to the lake, baseball games, cribbage, and spending time with his family.   
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruthie; children, David (Elaine), Brian (Bing), Donna (Matt) Stadsvold-Eich and Diane (Doug) Nims; grandchildren, Shila (David) Heeter, Jay, Brianna, Kaitlin, Shelby, Carter and Jake; great-grandson, Gavin; other relatives and friends.

J. Marie Stehn, 97, of Benson, died Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Bethesda Pleasant View in Willmar.  
A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson where a visitation was held one hour prior to the service.  
Burial was in the Benson City Cemetery.  
Judell Marie Stehn was born  March 28, 1917 in Mandt Township of Chippewa County the daughter of Charles and Nellie (Townswick) Thompson. She was baptized at Mandt Lutheran Church by Pastor J.M. Mason and confirmed  October 12, 1930 by Pastor C.T. Jenson.  
Marie graduated from Benson High School in the class of 1934.

Eugene Henry Reiman, age 89, Benson

Eugene Henry Reiman, 89, died Monday, October 13, 2014 at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held 11 a.m., Friday, October 17, 2014, at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Jeremy Kucera officiating.  Burial was in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
A visitation was held from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, October 16, 2014, at St. Francis Catholic Church where there was a Rosary at 5 p.m.  Visitation continued for one hour prior to the service at the church.  
Gene was born May 20, 1925 to Henry and Anna (Krienert) Reiman in Beemer, Nebraska.  Gene lived on a farm and received his education at District #31 in rural Cuming County.  He was inducted into the Army in 1945.  He served in Korea with the 31st Infantry Division as a motor pool mechanic.  He was discharged in 1946.  After the service, he purchased a small service and repair shop.

Irene Voorhees, age 97, of Benson, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Benson.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17, at 11:00 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church  in Benson. Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson on Thursday, October 16, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and also for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in the West Bank Cemetery, south of Danvers. Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson.

Lucille R. Hanson, 93, of Benson

Lucille R. Hanson, 93, of Benson, died Sunday, October 12, 2014 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.  
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m.,  Wednesday, October 15, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson.  Visitation was held for one hour prior to the service  Wednesday at the church.      
Lucille Rowena Krause Hanson was born the youngest of 14 children  September 8, 1921, the daughter of J.F. and Mary Rist Krause, on a farm near Revillo.  She was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. John Lutheran Church in Revillo.  She graduated from Revillo High School.
