Genora E. Bogie November 18, 1917 • December 30, 2021

Genora Ellen Bogie, 104 (formerly of Benson, Minnesota) passed away December 30, 2021 at the home of her daughter in Blaine, Minnesota. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held with family at a later date.
Genora Ellen (Sylte) Bogie was born November 18, 1917 at the home of John and Hilda Sylte in Milan, Minnesota. She grew up during the great depression on their farm with her siblings, Nathalie and Charles. In 1936, she graduated from Appleton Business College and began work as a secretary for an attorney in Benson. There she met and married Robert Bogie,  May 22,1938, and they were blessed with four children: Richard, Dean, Kenneth, and Susan. In 1965 Genora began working as a secretary at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson and continued to work there for 21 years.

Jean Marilyn Meyer July 18, 1936 • January 9, 2022

Jean Marilyn Meyer, 85, of Willmar, Minnesota died Sunday, January 9, 2022 at her home.
A service celebrating her life was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 14 at Word of Faith Family Church in Willmar. Visitation was one hour prior to her service at the church. Burial was in the Benson City Cemetery.
Jean Marilyn Meyer was born July 18, 1936, to Irvin and Frieda (Neumann) Splettstoesser in Waconia. She attended school in Waconia and graduated from Waconia High School in 1954. She continued her education for medical technology at the Minneapolis School of Technology from 1954-1955.
September 17, 1955, Jean was united in marriage to Marvin Meyer. This union was blessed with three children: Linda, Kris and Sarah. Due to Marvin’s career as a radio announcer, they lived in St. Peter, Redwood Falls, Watertown, and eventually moved to Benson in 1960. Jean enjoyed staying home as a homemaker and raising her children.

David L. Peterson December 13, 1946 • December 27, 2021

 David Leroy Peterson, 75, of Benson, Minnesota, passed away peacefully December 27, 2021, after a month-long battle with COVID-19.
Services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson  Monday, January 3, 2022. Visitation was from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Celebration of Life began at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Benson Trap Club, a local school organization that reflects David’s interests and hobbies.
David was born December 13, 1946, to Christian and Lucille Peterson in Bertha, Minnesota. After David graduated from Clarissa Public High School in 1964, he served in the United States Army, including a tour of duty in Korea from 1966 to 1969, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator and driver.

James W. Moesenthin

James “Jim” (Mouse) William Moesenthin, 74, of Virginia, Minnesota died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021 in the Waterview Wood in Eveleth.  A private family service will be held. The Celebration of Life took place at 2:30 p.m. December 28, 2021 at Poppers Bar in Virginia. Inurnment will take place in the Minnesota Veteran’s Cemetery in Duluth at a later date.
Among family survivors is a brother, Rick Moesenthin, of Benson.  Family services are provided by Bauman-Cron, a Bauman Family Funeral Home in Virginia.

James Michael Lee Sept 9, 1947 • Dec 15, 2021

Jim Lee of Bloomington, Minnesota (formerly of Benson) died December 15, 2021 at the age of 74 at the V.A. Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  
The celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022 at McKinney’s on Southside in Benson from 1-3 p.m. A private burial, at Fort Snelling, will be held at a later date.

David LeRoy Peterson

David L. Peterson, 75, of Benson, Minnesota died Monday evening, December 27, 2021 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Visitation was held Monday,  January 3, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Interment was in the Benson City Cemetery. Steven Burns

Steven Burns, 72, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly December 23, 2021 at the Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.  He is survived by his wife, Barbara and brother, Rodney (Loretta) of Benson, Minnesota.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Delores Burns also of Benson.  
Steve was born in Benson, December 30, 1948 and graduated from Benson High School in 1967.  He joined the US Army and served three years while stationed in Germany.  He graduated from Willmar Vo-Tech. with a degree in Accounting.  He worked at Federated Telephone in Chokio and later at Ottertail Tel Com in Fergus Falls until his retirement.

Memorial Services for Pamela Hippe of Benson, Minnesota, will be Friday, January 7, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at East Zion Lutheran Church in rural Starbuck.  Pastor Steve Carmany will be officiating.   Visitation will be Thursday, January 6 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church Friday.  Burial will be at the East Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Pam passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the Swift County Benson Hospital in Benson, Minnesota.  She was 74 years old.
