Storm set record for wins with 20

The Morris-Benson Area boys hockey team set a record for most wins in a season this year, going 20-6 overall, including a 12-1 start.

The previous high for wins in a season was 19 set in 2005-06 and 2006-07 when the Benson boys hockey team went 19-4 both seasons.

In addition, Zach Bruns, a junior from Morris Area High School, became the first Benson or MBA boys or girls hockey player since 2015 to reach 100 career points.

He goes into his senior season with 115 career points and has a chance to climb into the top-five list of all-time high scorers for the boys hockey program, led by Tanner Picht with an incredible 203 career points.

The MBA boys hockey team, coached by Jeremiah Day with help from Tony Schultz, Jeff DeHaan, and John Schultz, ended the 2019-20 season with a 7-1 loss at Alexandria in the Section 6A quarterfinals, one game after beating Wadena-Deer Creek in the preliminary round of the tournament, 4-2.
