Storm lose on the road to Detroit Lakes and Windom

The MBA boys hockey team fell twice on the road last week, losing at Detroit Lakes last Tuesday night, 7-3, and also losing at Windom Area, Thursday, 9-2.
The Storm, who are 3-5 overall, were set to host the Benson Boys Hockey Invitational, Tuesday (yesterday) and Wednesday (today).
The Storm were set to play Park Rapids at 4 p.m., Tuesday (yesterday) in its first game, while Prairie Centre and Mayville-Portland square off in the other semifinal game at 6 p.m. The winners of the semifinal games are set to play at 5 p.m., Wednesday (today) with the losers playing at 3 p.m.
• In a correction to last week’s story, Chris Danielson was in goal during the Storm’s recent 6-3 win over Worthington, not the player listed. He has been the goalie on record for all MBA’s games this year.
Detroit Lakes 7, MBA 3
The Storm lost a game at Detroit Lakes last Tuesday night, 7-3. Beau Boehne had three goals and two assists and Spencer Bergman added one goal and four assists to lead the Lakers with five points each.
The Storm got a first-period goal by Brady DeHaan (Cole Blume and Hunter LeClair assisted) to tie up the game at 1-1 after one period, but DL outscored the Storm 4-2 in the second period to take command of the game.
Bergman and Boehne had goals early in the second period to put DL up 3-1, but Trevor Buss kept it close for the Storm with a goal at the 8:04 mark of the second period with the assist going to Blume and DeHaan.
DL scored again to go up 4-2 before Kaley Breuer scored a powerplay goal with 3:32 left in the period to cut the deficit to 4-3. Buss and DeHaan earned assists on Breuer’s goal.
DL scored with four seconds left in the second period to go into the final stanza up 5-3 and then scored the only two goals of the final period for the 7-3 final score.
Chris Danielson stopped 33 shots in net for the Storm, who were outshot 40-29. MBA had 16 of its shots during the second period.
