Sheepshead Slayers has big night . . . Top three teams separated by four points with two lakes to go
Artichoke Lake was the chosen spot for week 5 of the Swift Fishing League. It was a nice evening, with a decent breeze for a change from the high winds we’ve been seeing lately. Surface water temperature was 71 degrees. Of the 10 boats that competed that night, there was one northern and 14 walleyes measured. The northern caught by team Reanglers made the state minimum length by half an inch at 26.5”. That was good enough for 3 points plus a bonus point for largest northern. The largest walleye was 23.25” caught by Rob Lee of Sheepshead Slayers. That was worth 6 points plus the bonus point for largest walleye. Sheepshead Slayers measured the league limit of 6 fish that evening, all walleyes ranging from 23.25”-14.25”. That netted them 21 points and the win for the event. Second place with 11 points was Motorboaters with a bag of 3 walleyes from 20.5”-14.25”, while third place went to Quarter After with a bag of 2 walleyes 22” and 19.25”, worth 10 points.
