Ricard, Berreau lead Braves to opening win

Claire Ricard scored off an inbounds play underneath the Benson basket with about four seconds left in the game to give the Braves a thrilling 65-64 home win over Morris Area-CA in the season opener for both teams.

Benson trailed by as much as 18 points in the first half (37-19), but got the deficit down to 10 points by halftime and then outscored the Tigers 38-27 in the second half to open up the season with a win.

Kaitlyn Berreau had a game-high 29 points, including 23 points in the second half, while Ricard had 20 points and six rebounds, including 12 in the first half.

Benson did a great job of containing Morris Area senior Malory Anderson, who had 14 points in the first half, but only three in the second half...
