Property valuation process dictated by past sales, Department of Revenue rules

Assessed market valuations have been skyrocketing in the past two years in Swift County. Residential homes have seen increases of 30% to 50%. Some homeowners have seen the market valuations increase by over $200,00 in two years.
These rapid increases are based on homes selling for far less than their assessed market values in recent years, Joe Tschida is the director Swift County Public and Property Services Department who also serves as the county assessor said.
