Petersons and Hedman lead Benson boys basketball in 2020-21

he Benson boys basketball team had a good season, finishing the season 8-11 overall and 3-9 in the WCC. The Braves started out 1-5 and 2-7 before coming back to win six of their final 10 games.
Benson was seeded sixth in its half of Section 3AA and the Braves lost to third-seeded Paynesville in the opening round, 80-56. Paynesville fell to Redwood Valley in the next round and Morris Area eventually won the Section 3AA title before losing to Waseca in the first round of the State Tourney.
“I was really proud of how our guys played this year,” head coach Adam Jensen said. “From the uncertainty of even having a season with COVID-19, then having it shortened, and with all the limitations; they never once complained. I think everyone was grateful that we were able to be on the court this year.”
Melrose won the WCC title with a perfect 11-0 record, while Morris Area was second (9-2), followed by Minnewaska Area (6-6), Sauk Centre (4-7), Montevideo (3-8), Benson (3-9), and BOLD (2-6).
Seniors lost to graduation from this year’s Benson boys basketball team, coached by Adam Jensen, Brady Dokkebakken, and Josh Manzke, are Ben Peterson, Cole Hedman, Abe Peterson, Sam Lenarz, Matt Laumeyer, Patrick Minchow, Austin Grube, and Sam Grussing....
