Peterson scores 32 as Braves open up season with victory

The Benson boys basketball team opened up the season with a 77-69 home win over Sauk Centre, Thursday night.  The win was also the first for new head coach Adam Jensen, who took over the reigns of the boys basketball program this year from former head coach Roger Lindahl.

The Braves had a great start, quickly building a double-digit lead, but Sauk Centre cut it to single digits early in the second half and eventually went ahead for the first time before Benson took back the lead and held on for the win.

Ben Peterson had 32 points to lead the Braves, going 6-of-10 from three-point range.  Benson shot 62 times from the field and 40 of them were three-pointers with the Braves making 15.

“It was an awesome win,” coach Adam Jensen said.  “We were red hot to start and were really aggressive defensively and got a lot of open looks.  I was extremely happy with our effort, especially in the second half when Sauk Centre took the lead...”
