Shelby J. Larson, 83 of Benson, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.  Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Benson.  Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. Thursday at the church and for one hour prior to the service.  Funeral arrangement are with the West Central Cremation Service.  www.hafh.org
 
Shelby Jerome Larson was born on May 26, 1931 in Benson, the son of Louie and Olivia (Rear) Larson.  He grew up on the family farm in Swenoda Township where he attended country grade school in District # 91.  On January 10, 1954, Shelby was united in marriage to Lois Reinhart at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watson.  They made their home in Minneapolis and later Maple Grove where he was self-employed installing ceramic tile.  In 1972, they bought the family farm and returned to Benson where he farmed and installed tile, retiring in 2010.
 
Shelby was a member of Our Redeemers Lutheran Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles.  He enjoyed watching the Twins and Vikings, bowling, golfing, horseshoes, snowmobiling and playing softball in his younger years.  He shared a birthday with John Wayne and was an avid fan. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially sharing with them his passion for fireworks over the Fourth of July and Sunday dinners prior to watching football. In his later years he enjoyed traveling on family vacation.  He is remembered as hard working, a devoted husband and caring father and grandfather.
 
Shelby died on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 83.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois; children, Shelly (Gordy) Pribyl of Annandale, Bruce (Julie) Larson of Glenwood, Neil Larson of Benson, Kevin (Pamela) Larson of Kerkhoven and David (Sandra) Larson of Danvers; six grandchildren, Derick Senkyr, Louie Larson, Darcie Larson, Lyndon Larson, Benjamin Larson Cody Larson and Morgen Tangen and seven great-grandchildren.
 
Shelby was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Lowell and Richard.
