Timothy Teeter Twitchell, 52, of Duluth, Minn., formerly of Fairmont, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Fairmont Evangelical Covenant Church, 901 Woodland Ave., in Fairmont. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Fairmont Evangelical Covenant Church and one hour prior to services Thursday, also at the church.
Tim was born Aug. 17, 1961, in Benson, Minn., the son of L.F. and Gloria (Blahosky) Twitchell. He attended and graduated from Benson High School in 1979, where he was an outstanding athlete. He then attended Wadena and UTI Technical colleges where he obtained education in plumbing, heating, and air conditioning. Tim worked as a plumber for 30 years and owned his own business for the last eight years of his working career. He was united in marriage to Lori (Van Winkle) on Aug. 16, 1986, and they later divorced in July 2013.

They made their home in California for 10 years and then returned to Fairmont where they raised their two children, Travis Teeter Twitchell and Michaela Lee Twitchell. Tim loved spending time with his children golfing, kayaking, fishing and camping. Tim entered into Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge in Jan. 2012, where he spent 14 months restoring his life. During this period, he gave his life to Jesus Christ and was also diagnosed with and survived esophageal cancer.

He later worked as a staff member of Teen Challenge where he was loved and admired by his fellow brothers in the program who looked to him for advice, inspiration and hope. He then was diagnosed two months ago with lung and stomach cancer that eventually took his life. Tim was loved by many and will be deeply missed by his children, Travis and Michaela; grandchildren, Kaleigh Bleifus (daughter of Tonya), and Tucker Bleifus (son of Courtney); brothers, Jack (Kathy) Twitchell of N.M., Tom Twitchell, Patrick (Betty) Twitchell of Benson, Joe (Elaine) Twitchell of Ill.; sister, Ann (Tom) Kobberman of Clontarf, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, L.F. and Gloria; sister, Sara; brother, Chuck; and nephew, Ryan.
