Lenore Yvonne (Hennessy) Nissen, age 86, of Benson, died Thursday, April 17th, 2014 at Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, Minnesota.
Services are at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson, with Rev. Paul Idstrom officiating.  Interment will be held in the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, Minnesota.
Visitation is 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson.  Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson, Minnesota.

Lenore Yvonne (Hennessy) Nissen was born on December 05, 1927, in Six Mile Grove Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Leo and Bernice (Mitchell) Hennessy.  She graduated from Benson High School in 1945 and went to work at the S&L Store.  On June 20, 1946, Lenore was united in marriage to Glenn Arthur Nissen by Rev. G.A. Dickson at the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Benson.  This union was blessed with over 60 years of marriage, three children, five grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.  Lenore was the Secretary at Minnegasco in Benson from 1967 – 1984 and was then transferred to the Mankato office, where she stayed, until she retired on January 1, 1991 and returned to their home in Benson.  She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church WELCA, the Trinity Quilters, and Sr. Citizens Card Club.  Lenore loved to quilt and play cards.
 
Lenore was called from this life on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, Minnesota.  She attained the age of 86 years, 4 months, and 12 days.  She is survived by two daughters: Marilyn (DeWayne) Kellen of Madison and Gayle (Dan) Payne of Starbuck; five grandchildren: Darnell (Mike) Johnson, Derrick (Erika) Kellen, Dionne (Jason) Schommer, Joshua (Andrea) Payne, and Joseph (Sarah) Payne; twelve great-grandchildren: Elyse Johnson, Ryker Johnson, Aaliyah Schommer, Ethan Schommer, Brandt Schommer, Hadyn Kellen, Owen Kellen, Elin Kellen, Lexington Payne, Abigayle Payne, Jack Payne, and Emmitt Payne; siblings: Beatrice Pearson of Hancock, Beverly Pearson of Glenwood, Marian (Jerome) Johnson of Watertown, George Hennessy of Indian Harbor, FL, and Susan (Dennis) Jordahl of Willmar; and brother-in-law, Robert Walquist of Willmar.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn on April 2, 2007; daughter, Joyce; great-grandson, Jakob Kellen; sister, Norma Walquist; two sisters-in-law, Alma Nissen and Jo Hennessy; and three brothers-in-law: Rudy Nissen, Alfred Pearson, and Harold Pearson.
