Glen Arthur Mills, 87, of Great Falls

Glen Arthur Mills, 87, of Great Falls, passed away on March 7, 2014.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Glen was born on January 25, 1927 in Maynard, Minnesota to Samuel and Helma (Siverhus) Mills. While WWII was raging, he had such a great desire to serve his country that he lied about his age and enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 16. In 1957, he transferred from the Navy to the Air Force from which he retired in 1966. Glen then took over the family farm in Watson, Minnesota and worked there until it was sold in 1981.
He married Blanche Foote on July 25, 2000.
Glen enjoyed following the grandkids around in his retirement. Hunting game, especially white tail deer, and fishing walleyes were favorite pastimes for him.

He was a member of the VFW, Disabled American Vets, NRA, and the WNC (his friends and family will know!).

Glen is survived by his wife, Blanche Mills of Great Falls; sons Allen (Marie) Mills of Anchorage, AK, Fred (Tanya) Mills of Ferndale, WA and John (Jan) Laughlin of Great Falls; daughters Wendy (Terry) Whitewater of Weed, CA and Debra (Allen) Leavitt of Nampa, ID; brothers Darold (Margie) Mills of Benson, MN, Dennis (Maria) Mills of Merced, CA and James (Mary) Mills of Oaklander, IN; sisters Sandra (Jim) Tyler of Chippewa Falls, WI and Maxine (Guy) Short of Tucson, AZ; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Helma Mills; step-father Elmer Anderson; and his first wife, Jacqueline Marie Mills.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Glen’s name may be made to Disabled Veterans, VA Regional Office, PO Box 189, Fort Harrison, MT 59636.
