Loren August Peterson, 93, of Kerkhoven, died Thursday March 6th at Rice Memorial Hospital, in Willmar. His memorial service will be at 11 am on Saturday, March 8th at Bethel Baptist Church, in Kerkhoven. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a spring burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the family. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home, in Kerkhoven.
 
Loren was born on April 12, 1920 to August and Margaret (Johnson) Peterson in Kerkhoven. He attended country school then Kerkhoven Elementary before graduating from Benson High School in 1938. After high school Loren was active in the Air Force. He served from 1942 to 1945 before becoming honorably discharged.
 
He married Iris on June 28, 1946 at Bethel Baptist Church, in Kerkhoven. Fallowing their marriage, the two of them lived in DeGraff, Pennock and later moved to a farm house south of Kerkhoven. In 1962 they moved into Kerkhoven where they lived for many years.
 
The two of them became members of Bethel Baptist where Loren enjoyed serving. During his many years at the church he was involved with being a Trustee, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Awana Leader. During this time Loren worked on the farm. In 1974 Loren found a new job at Farmland Co-op. He worked at Farmland from 1974 till his retirement in 1982. After retirement he enjoyed woodworking. One of his main passions included clocks, which surrounded their dining room. Loren was also involved with being President of PTA, he was a Cub Scout Leader and was a Treasurer for the Senior Citizens Group.
 
He is survived by his wife: Iris; children: Bill Peterson of Ham Lake, Tim (Kay) Peterson of Bagley; grandchildren: Spencer (Amy) Peterson, Jerome (Sarah) Peterson of Minneapolis, Landon Peterson of Bagley, Wade Peterson of Minneapolis, and Chad (Jennie) Peterson of Oak Grove; great-grandchildren: Charlie, Bailee, Griffin and Evelyn Peterson.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, two children and one brother, Earl Peterson.
