Retired MACCRAY High School teacher and coach Gary Nelson announced Monday that he would seek the Republican endorsement for the District 17A House seat.
District 17A is made up of Swift and Chippewa counties, most of Renville County, and the four southwestern Kandiyohi County townships of Edwards, Holland, Roseland and Lake Lillian.
If he gets the endorsement, Nelson will be taking on incumbent Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party incumbent Rep. Andrew Falk of rural Murdock. Falk is serving his third term in the state House.
