Peter Raymond Ollendick, 65, Benson

Peter Raymond Ollendick was born on May 2, 1948, in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Raymond and Esther Schwebach Ollendick.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith and grew up in Tara Township, Swift County.  He attended country school and then graduated from Benson High School.  Peter served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  On October 24, 1970 Peter was united in marriage to Connie Miller at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Clontarf.  This union was blessed with five children.  They lived in Benson and in Fort Dodge Iowa from 1988 to 1994, before returning to Benson.
     
Peter farmed, worked for the city of Benson, drove School Bus and the Benson City Bus, and also worked at the Benson radio station.  He owned and operated Pro Karaoke.  Peter was a jack of all trades.  He was a member of the Benson VFW Post #1403 and the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher and operated the video camera.  He enjoyed bowling, music, tinkering in the garage, playing with the grandchildren, and loved to spend time visiting with family and friends.
 
Peter is survived by his former wife, Connie Ollendick-Miller of Benson; his children: Wendy (Kevin) Wharem, Heather Ollendick of Benson, Veronica (Shawn) Tolifson of Benson, Matthew (Reena) Ollendick of Benson; nine grandchildren: Bailey, Brooke, and Sophia Wharem, Scarlett and Ethan Tolifson, Bree, Anya, Mya, and Liam Ollendick; special friend, Helen Sik of Benson; sisters, Rita (Clyde) Schmidt of Hewitt and Anne (James) Schirmer of Clontarf.  He is preceded in death by a son in infancy and his sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and Bill Gorres.
